  • Maximum Cutting Performance with GYEON Q²M Rotary Pads

What are GYEON Rotary Pads? GYEON Q²M Rotary Pads are foam pads specifically developed for single rotary polishers, designed to effectively and precisely perform even severe paint corrections by specifically utilizing the higher speeds and stronger friction pressure of the rotary machine.

GYEON Q²M Rotary Pads are the tool for demanding correction cases – where a dual-action machine reaches its limits. Due to its fixed axis of rotation, the rotary machine generates significantly more friction and heat than a DA machine. GYEON Rotary Pads are designed for these conditions: harder foam matrices prevent indentation at high speeds, special heat channels in the pad structure dissipate heat and protect the clear coat from overheating. The result is controlled, efficient cutting performance – even on heavily oxidized or scratched paint.

    • Designed for rotary machines and their specific loads. Thinner, softer DA pads would indent or work unevenly during rotation. GYEON Rotary Pads are designed in material thickness and foam density to remain stable and consistently powerful under rotary conditions – without vibration or padding.
    • Wide cut depth coverage from compound to finish. Even with rotary pads, GYEON offers a complete gradation: from aggressive compounding pads to medium types and finishing variants that, despite the rotary principle, enable a hologram-free end result – provided the technique is correct.
    • Heat-resistant foam materials for continuous operation. In professional use, pads must work for several hours under load. GYEON Rotary Pads resist heat development in rotary machines without loss of shape or performance – this is not a nice-to-have in professional detailing, but a prerequisite.

Practical Tip from Detailing1: Rotary machines require more experience than DA polishers – especially with aggressive cut pads. Start with a low machine speed (1000–1500 RPM) and work your way up slowly. Always keep the machine moving – a stationary rotary pad can damage the paint within seconds due to overheating. GYEON Q²M Rotary Pads provide safety with the right technique – but do not replace practicing on test surfaces.

Rotary Machine vs. DA: When do you need Rotary Pads?

The dual-action machine is sufficient for most correction cases in the hobby sector and for normal vehicle detailing. The rotary machine – and thus GYEON Rotary Pads – comes into play when the damage is deeper: heavily oxidized paint, deep single or spiderweb scratches, multiple paint layer damages, or vehicles with particularly hard clear coats. Also in commercial use, where speed is crucial, rotary is superior to DA. GYEON Rotary Pads ensure that the higher machine performance does not lead to uncontrolled cut depth, but can be precisely adjusted to the correction level.

Application: Proper use and care of Rotary Pads

GYEON Q²M Rotary Pads are attached to rotary polishers with a suitable backing plate (usually 80–150mm) using Velcro. Spread polish on the pad, not on the paint. Start the machine at a low setting first – this prevents splatters. Use even, overlapping movements with moderate pressure. Clean the pad regularly: a saturated rotary pad no longer transfers fresh abrasion, but smears old polish residue. After use, clean with warm water and mild shampoo, squeeze (do not wring), and let dry flat. This way, GYEON Rotary Pads will last for many uses.

Areas of Use: Which Rotary Pad for which Correction Need?

The GYEON Rotary Cut Pad is the tool of choice for severe oxidation damage, deep scratches, and for detailing vehicles that have not seen polish for years. The Medium Rotary Pad covers the normal correction range – swirls, medium holograms, transition polishing after the cut pass. The Finishing Rotary Pad completes the correction with maximum gloss – the combination of rotary energy and fine foam structure creates a high-quality finish even without the risk of holograms, provided sufficient polish and patience are used. Afterwards, ceramic coatings from the GYEON Q² Coating range are recommended.

GYEON Rotary Pads compared to other Rotary Pad manufacturers

Rotary Pads from GYEON compete with established brands such as Rupes, Lake Country, or Koch-Chemie. The difference lies in system integration: GYEON has optimized its Rotary Pads to its own Q²M Compound and Polish formulations. This means that the abrasion behavior and heat development between the product and the pad are calibrated to each other. Other pads can be combined with GYEON polishes, but usually require more experience in finetuning. Those who use the GYEON system work with calculable parameters instead of trial-and-error.

Purchase Recommendation: For Professionals and Ambitious Detailers

GYEON Q²M Rotary Pads are recommended for anyone who already has experience with a rotary machine or plans to switch from DA to rotary. In professional use, several pads of each type should always be available to allow for uninterrupted changes. As a system addition, the GYEON Q²M Paint Polishes are recommended – especially Q²M Compound for the cut pass and Q²M Polish for the finishing step. For less aggressive corrections or for beginners, we recommend GYEON Eccentric Pads for the DA machine.
