One-Way Deposit (€0.25)

When you buy drinks in single-use bottles or cans in Germany, a one-way deposit of €0.25 applies. The deposit is required by law (§ 31 of the German Packaging Act, VerpackG) and is added to the price of the drink.

How to get your deposit back

Return the empty bottle or can at a deposit machine or a collection point in a shop. The machine recognises the packaging, you get a voucher and swap it for cash at the till.
